You Go Jen
Jennifer Aniston can be a bit of a pitiful character. That’s why we all love her, right? Because all of us, if we’re honest, love a wounded celebrity. It makes them seem more human. And less smug. And being dumped by the most attractive man on the planet, who pours salt into the wound by leaving you for the sexiest, man-eating vixen in Hollywood, has got to hurt.
When recently discussing her latest movie The Switch (thank God they changed the title from The Baster considering it’s a film about artificial insemination) she shared her views on single parenthood and sperm donation – the main themes of this average-rom-com sounding flick – saying ‘Women are realizing more and more that you don’t have to settle with a man to have that child.’ And that got one US talkshow host, Bill O’Reilly, very pissed off indeed. But don’t mess with Jen, Bill, don’t mess with her.
O’Reilly believes Aniston is ‘throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that, ‘Hey! You don’t need a guy, you don’t need a dad. Daaaaad? Aggghhhh, you know! [Makes dismissive wave of the hand.] That’s destructive to our society!’
The ever-cool Aniston’s response through People.com: ‘Of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming (with fatherly instincts), but for those who’ve not yet found their Bill O’Reilly, I’m just glad science has provided a few other options.’
Take that Bill. Aniston 1. O’Reilly nil.
