Laura Bush Book Signing For Spoken From The Heart

Appearances can be deceptive. Just because Laura Bush is married to George W Bush who, as we know, is hardly a fan of things like gay marriage and abortion but doesn’t mind invading a country or two, doesn’t mean she has to agree with him.
It turns out that Mrs Bush is more liberal than we imagined. She’s just been rather quiet about it all these years. In a recent interview with Larry King, where she was promoting her book Spoken From The Heart, she admitted that she didn’t always see eye to eye with her husband and spilled the beans about what she really thinks on some hotly debated topics. She said of gay marriage, ‘When couples are committed to each other and love each other… they ought to have I think the same sort of rights that everyone has.’ She then added ‘I understand totally what George thinks and what other people think about marriage being between a man and a woman… but I think we could [accept gay marriage].’ Laura then told Larry that she believed anti-gay-marriage sentiment was a ‘generational thing’ and that it would ‘come’. She also admitted that she was pro-abortion ‘under certain circumstances.’
Nice work Mrs Bush, I bet those staunch Republicans made sure you kept quiet while your husband was in power. It’s just a shame that you were only able to come out with this now. But as they say, better late than never.
