On 3 July, everyone’s talking about…
Naomi Watts plays Princess Diana
Here’s a snap of Aussie actress, Naomi Watts on the set of Caught in Flight, a biopic on Diana. Pretty uncanny, don’t you think?
Anderson Cooper finally comes out
Not many people were surprised, yet this is still so newsworthy. This is what he wrote on his website:
“Even though my job puts me in the public eye, I have tried to maintain some level of privacy in my life. Part of that has been for purely personal reasons. I think most people want some privacy for themselves and the people they are close to. I’ve also wanted to retain some privacy for professional reasons. Since I started as a reporter in war zones 20 years ago, I’ve often found myself in some very dangerous places. For my safety and the safety of those I work with, I try to blend in as much as possible, and prefer to stick to my job of telling other people’s stories, and not my own. It’s become clear to me that by remaining silent on certain aspects of my personal life for so long, I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something — something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid. This is distressing because it is simply not true … There continue to be far too many incidences of bullying of young people, as well as discrimination and violence against people of all ages, based on their sexual orientation, and I believe there is value in making clear where I stand. The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.”
I have always admired his work for CNN as a reporter and war correspondent. I like that he came out, merely for the fact that a lot of gay people thought that he was trying to hide something he was ashamed of. People in the public eye definitely have a much harder time of coming out, but I feel it is almost their duty. As a role model to so many people, public personalities like Anderson Cooper has the chance to really influence and inspire other young gay people to take that step. Teaching them not to be ashamed and not to apologise for who they are, because they shouldn’t have to. Ever.
SA now one of top TIK exporters
The UN Office on Drugs and Crime reports that SA is now one of the biggest manufacturers of TIK. That is, in the world. Known to be very popular in the Western Cape, this super addictive drug is now spreading rapidly across the country. “This drug is definitely on the increase. It is everywhere, especially in the Pretoria suburbs of Eersterus and Laudium, and in Johannesburg’s Lenasia,” a police source said. The above pic is about to become our reality people. Unless we find a way to beat this, and fast.
Syria runs more than 27 torture centres
It recently came to light that Syrian Intelligence Agencies are running more than 27 torture centres across the country. The Human Rights Watch says that detainees are apparently beaten with batons and cables, burned with acid, sexually assaulted, and their fingernails torn out. Hectic!
Are Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis dating?
A little birdie told us that Mila and Ashton are snuggling up. The two actors recently grabbed lunch at Soho House in Los Angeles (pic above). If it’s true, they will definitely give Brangelina some competition as the hottest Hollywood couple. Guess Ashton and Demi are not getting back together after all.
