Need to get away from it all this weekend?

I’m dreaming of La Residence in Franschhoek where I joined friends two weekends ago for a sublime and divine weekend in the country. Bedrooms fit for princesses, bathrooms the size of ballrooms – well, ok, but certainly large enough to throw a party, never mind swing a cat or three. (Speaking of which, take note of all the chandeliers, Sweetie.)

Decor is trés glam, even a little fabulous, maybe a smidgeon OTT. There’s pampering on tap and attention to every detail – 5* bathroom cosmetics (shampoo and conditioner, naturally), hairdryers that actually dry your hair, linen by Ralph (Lauren), curtains by Stephanie (Hoppen), statues by Dylan (Lewis) and other breath-taking pieces by local artists, excellent food, attentive staff… No wonder it’s Elton John’s home from home when he’s in the Cape.

Did I say it was fit for a princess? Darling, it’s fit for a queen.
