So it is the month of loooove, and whilst we could get jaded, bemused and not a little irritated by the abundance of awful red stuff proliferating in shop windows and till counters near us, we are going to resist the urge to gag. And what’s more we are going to have a little love fest of our own. Yes we are and here is how…I am going to post my favourite love tracks – 1 per day – and you dear Marie Clairvoyants are going to help me. Send me your best loved love songs and after a judicious consultation with the love panel here in the JHB office, and daily phone calls to the Cape Town branch of the amorous song committee we will post the day’s winning song.

To kick things off I give you VCR by The XX. Because… well for obvious reasons.

So many people have been asking me to post my recipe for the mains I made on Come Dine With Me last week – between all the name dropping .

So here it is:

Tabbouleh salad with prawn and calamari skewers (Serves 4):

Put a cup of bulgur wheat into a bowl – boil a kettle with some water and cover the bulgur – sprinkle in some salt – leave it until it has absorbed the water and is nice and al dente.
Then take a large bunch of mint / bunch of parsely / and rocket – those little micro greens if you find them and chop up – you can do it with scissors – much easier
Pomegranate seeds
Pine nuts – ( fry them up in a pan – no oil just dry)
Roma tomatoes – sliced in half ( a little punnet)
You can also chop up spring onions – and chives if you like
Mix it all up in a bowl -
Sauce stuff for salad – olive oil, pomegranate molasses 2 table spoons , 1 crushed garlic clove – mix it all up and pour over the salad.
Salt and pepper to taste
Then for the prawns calamari and Chorizo – I just fry it all up on a griddle pan – and skewer it ( decide how many prawns and calamari per person – if you are very hungry go for more) – I would also squeeze lots of lemon over this as you go along
That is about it – you can also do chicken instead of the prawns/calamari etc
